Join the Gumshoe Detective Agency (Someday)

Hello world,

I'm developing my very first indie game, heavily inspired by Nancy Drew PC games and The Roottrees are Dead. Two games (well, one is a game series) that have made me a better person as a result of my deep obsession with each. Additionally, as a child of the 1990s who is hastily approaching thirty years of age, I longed for the sweet, simple joy that came from turning on my dad's old PC computer and playing solitaire, or checking AIM. If you didn't grow up in this time frame, fear not, you can experience its wonders in my upcoming game Gumshoe Detective Agency. 

First, let's discuss the logo. It's word art. If you don't know what word art is, it essentially defined my entire childhood and was part of the reason I ended up as a graphic designer for a number of years (don't ask, those were dark times). 

Second, Gumshoe Detective Agency is, at its core, a game where you sit in front of your computer at a detective agency and solve the mystery of what happened to Victoria Mason, an heirness who has gone missing. (oh no!) You have to use the in-game web browser to look for clues in web articles, on beautifully designed websites (that's a joke, they're retro af), and within your own emails.

Third, the game, as previously mentioned, draws heavy inspiration from the Roottrees are Dead. I take no shame in admitting this. It was a huge inspiration to me, which I consider a positive thing. If I hadn't discovered that game I never would have tried my hand at making my own.

Lastly, I know nothing about coding or creating a game, I am learning everything as I go. I feel a certain responsibility to not only disclose this, but also inform you that I'm a woman and I want to create more games that appeal to not only women, but mystery lovers, and anyone who's ever played a modern video game and thought "wow I never realized I suffer from motion sickness until this exact moment.". Let's bring back mystery point-and-click games.
